If your property has lighting that frequently and inexplicably flickers, it may be time to call in an emergency electrician. Whilst flickering lights are easy to ignore, they can actually be a sign that your system is endangering you and your property. This is because flickering lights are often caused by an overload in the circuit, or else as a result of faulty wiring.
If a power outlet in your home is heating up to the point that it is hot to the touch, you may need to call an emergency electrician to come and assess it. A hot power outlet can be an indicator that the outlet is a fire hazard and, in many household fire instances, the fire has been caused by an overheated power outlet. To avoid this becoming a risk, you should call out an emergency electrician to take a look.
Like many other things in life, a burning smell in relation to an electrical product, circuit or system is never a good sign. If you can smell burning coming from an appliance in your home, don't delay in getting the assistance of a qualified emergency electrician. If possible, you also need to switch off your mains supply to ensure that whatever is burning does not worsen.
Sometimes, seeing sparks when you plug in an appliance is completely normal. This merely happens because conductors within a circuit are close to touching one another. However, if the sparks last longer than a split second, or are white or yellow in colour, then this is a sign to call in an emergency electrician. In the meantime, discontinue your use of the appliance until the issue has been addressed.
Buzzing sounds emitting from an electrical appliance or system are never normal, so they should never be treated as such. If you hear an unusual and unaccounted for buzzing sound in your home, speak to an emergency electrician to arrange a visit. There are many reasons for a buzzing sound, including faulty wiring, a loose screw at the termination point, and more.
If your property's electrical system is displaying any of the above signs, don't delay or wait for the problem to fix itself.
